Deskew PDF

Scanned pages are often a little crooked. Deskew PDF measures the tilt of each page and straightens the pages you approve by turning their content, without converting text to images.

How to straighten a scanned PDF

  1. Select the PDF.
  2. Wait while each page's tilt is measured from its text or, for scans, its rendered lines.
  3. Review the detected angles and confidence; choose Strict or Standard and adjust angles by hand if needed.
  4. Choose Keep page size or Expand to fit, then straighten and download the PDF.

How tilt is detected

For pages with real text, the angle of the text lines is measured directly. For scans, the page is rendered and the angle at which text lines line up most sharply is searched between −5° and +5°. Each page gets a confidence level, and only confident results are selected for you.

Key features

  • Detects small tilts up to ±5°; you can also set a page's angle by hand.
  • Text stays text and images aren't re-compressed.
  • Before/after preview of any page.

Supported files and limits

  • Pages that are sideways or upside down (90°, 180°, 270°) aren't fixed here; use Rotate PDF.
  • Photos, artwork or nearly empty pages may not give a reliable angle.
  • Keep page size can cut off corners that turn past the edge; Expand to fit avoids that.

How your files are handled

Deskew PDF runs in your browser: your file is read and processed on your device and the result is created there, so documents aren't uploaded to a server. The site only counts anonymous page views, without cookies. How it works · Privacy
