What iHatePDFTool does with your files and data, based on how the site is built.
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Your files stay in your browser
Every tool on iHatePDFTool processes files in your web browser, on your own device. When you choose a file, your browser reads it locally. The site's code does not upload your documents anywhere, and there is no server that receives them.
Results such as PDFs, images, ZIP archives and text files are created in your browser and saved through its normal download function.
Because your documents are not sent to us, there are no copies on a server to keep or delete. A file you open stays in your browser's memory while the page is open; starting over, closing the tab or leaving the page discards it.
Passwords
Passwords you type to open, unlock or protect a PDF are used only in your browser for that operation. They are not stored, not sent anywhere and never put into the page address.
Contacting us
You can reach us by email at the address published on the Contact page. The site doesn't send anything for you: the link opens your own email app. Emails you send us reach the address published on the Contact page, and we use them only to reply.
Visit statistics, cookies and tracking
- To see which tools are used, the site counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics, the statistics service of our hosting provider. It records anonymous, aggregated information such as the page visited, the referring website, the country, and the browser, operating system and device type.
- These statistics don't use cookies, don't follow you across other websites and never receive your documents, passwords or anything you type into the tools.
- There are no advertising scripts. The site does not set cookies and does not use browser storage (such as local storage) to keep your data.
- Apart from that statistics script, it loads no third-party scripts, fonts or images; text uses the fonts already on your device.
What the website itself needs
iHatePDFTool is a website, not an app that works without a connection: your browser downloads its pages, scripts and helper workers from ihatepdftool.com before the tools can run.
As with most websites, the hosting service that delivers those pages may record standard technical information about each request, such as the IP address, the page requested, the time and the browser type. These requests never contain the contents of your files.
Browser features
Some features depend on capabilities that browsers offer only over a secure (HTTPS) connection or in current versions, for example the encryption used by Protect PDF and the checks that verify output files. If your browser lacks something a tool needs, the tool shows a message instead of producing a result.
The tools are tested in current Chrome. Other browsers, such as Firefox and Safari, haven't been fully validated yet.

If the way the site handles data changes, this page will be updated and its date changed.
