Compare PDF

Find what changed between two versions of a document. Compare the text word by word, spot visual differences page by page, and check changes in structure such as bookmarks and form fields.

Your file stays on your device and is processed in your browser.

PDF A — Original

One PDF up to 200 MB.

PDF B — Revised

One PDF up to 200 MB.

A is treated as the original and B as the revised version: “added” means only in B, “removed” only in A. Pages are compared by position, not by semantic similarity.

How to compare two PDFs

  1. Select the original PDF as A and the new version as B (protected PDFs can be opened with their password).
  2. Press Compare PDFs.
  3. Start with the Overview, then open the Text, Visual or Structure tab for details.
  4. Use Swap PDFs to compare in the other direction.

How pages are matched

Pages are compared by position: page 1 with page 1, page 2 with page 2. Extra pages in one file are reported as added or removed. Text is compared word by word, and the visual comparison highlights pixels that differ between the rendered pages.

Key features

  • Word-level text differences with surrounding context.
  • Visual difference images, scanned automatically for short documents and on demand for long ones.
  • Structure changes: document information, bookmarks, form fields, annotations and page sizes.

Supported files and limits

  • Inserted or moved pages shift the comparison, since pages are matched by position.
  • Very large text differences are summarised instead of listed in full.
  • Text comparison needs real text; scans are compared visually only.

How your files are handled

Compare PDF runs in your browser: your file is read and processed on your device and the result is created there, so documents aren't uploaded to a server. Passwords you enter are used only for this operation and aren't stored. The site only counts anonymous page views, without cookies. How it works · Privacy
