Repair PDF

Some PDFs open with errors, show missing pages or are rejected by other software because their internal structure is damaged. Repair PDF analyses the file and, where it can do so safely, rewrites a clean copy.

Your file stays on your device and is processed in your browser.

How to repair a PDF

  1. Select the PDF.
  2. Press Analyze PDF to see what's wrong with its structure.
  3. If the problems can be fixed, press Repair PDF.
  4. Download the repaired copy; it's checked against the original before it's offered.

What can be repaired

Repair rebuilds the file's structure: broken or missing cross-reference tables and trailers, wrong offsets, missing end markers, junk before the header, wrong page counts that make readers lose pages, and damaged document information. It never changes what's on the pages and never invents missing content.

Key features

  • Analysis first: you see the problems before anything is changed.
  • Each repaired file is reopened and compared page by page with the original.
  • Unused objects are removed while rewriting.

Supported files and limits

  • Not every damaged PDF can be saved. Truncated files, files whose page content is missing, and files where repair would lose pages are refused rather than repaired badly.
  • Password-protected PDFs are refused; unlock them first.
  • Missing fonts can't be restored; they're reported as a limitation.

How your files are handled

Repair PDF runs in your browser: your file is read and processed on your device and the result is created there, so documents aren't uploaded to a server. The site only counts anonymous page views, without cookies. How it works · Privacy
