Flatten PDF

Lock in filled forms and comments before sending a document. Flattening draws form fields and annotations into the page content so they look the same but can no longer be edited.

Your file stays on your device and is processed in your browser.

How to flatten a PDF

  1. Select the PDF.
  2. Choose what to flatten: form fields, supported annotations, or all supported elements.
  3. Review what will be flattened and what can't be.
  4. Press Flatten PDF and download the result.

Key features

  • Uses each field's and annotation's own appearance, so the result looks the same.
  • Nothing is converted to an image; text stays text.
  • Links are kept.

Supported files and limits

  • Flattening removes interactivity permanently: fields can't be filled and comments can't be edited afterwards. Keep the original if you may need them.
  • Some annotations without a stored appearance can't be flattened and are reported.
  • Protected PDFs are refused.

How your files are handled

Flatten PDF runs in your browser: your file is read and processed on your device and the result is created there, so documents aren't uploaded to a server. The site only counts anonymous page views, without cookies. How it works · Privacy
